Chuck Rhoades, an influential and well-to-do New York prosecutor who does not miss out on one, is assigned to an insider trading case tied to billionaire Bobby Ax Axelrod. Ax runs his own company having started from scratch, survived the Sept. 11 attacks and the financial collapse of 2008, and is now the king of private investment funds. It is attractive, enjoys great prestige, has in the pocket of public opinion and nobody dares to take the opposite. Rhoades, a faithful believer in justice but ambitious, sees this case as the opportunity he has always hoped to make his career take off. But he discovers that Ax is a hard nut to crack. An added problem is that Wendy, his wife, occupies a crucial position as a coach and psychologist in Ax's company.
